Liam Byrne MP supports the Foodbank

21st September 2018

On the 14th September, several committee members met with Liam Byrne, MP for Hodge Hill, at Christ Church Burney Lane in Ward End.  Liam is very aware of the significant needs in each of our wards, and is very keen to promote and support Aston and Nechells Foodbank.  Following this meeting, Liam wrote to 35 local churches and schools to encourage support with harvest and other collections.  This is in addition to the letters that the Foodbank have sent out to all churches and schools in Aston and Nechells wards.

So far, up to one tonne of long life foods have been received.  This includes over 200kg from Highfield Primary school in Washwood Heath, and as much again from Broadway Secondary in Birchfield.  We are confident other donations will continue to come in over the next month.
